Global Citizen

I wanted to share an organization I started advocating for last year. As many of you know, I’ve been an outspoken proponent for volunteer service and community engagement for some time now. I’ve focused mainly on poverty, veteran services and humanitarian aid.

I came across Global Citizen after hearing about their Global Citizen Festival that takes place in Central Park every September. You may have even seen the festival televised on MSNBC.

For those of you who may not know, they found a way to leverage social media to create global change. Their mission is to eradicate extreme poverty by 2030 and are on target to meet that goal! In only five years they have secured over $27 billion in aid from around the world and are on track to affect 737 million lives; impact that’s hard to believe.

Here’s what makes them different – They don’t ask their supporters for donations, but rather to take action across social media and email. To date over 7 million actions have been taken form ordiany citizens like you and I.

The work they do holds a special place in my heart because they are giving a voice to our most vulnerable citizens. If you’d like to learn more and take action against the worlds biggest problems, check out the link below.

Global Citizen has created a platform that’s changing the world. I hope you’ll check out what they’re all about.  Become a Global Citizen here
